Living a natural life in harmony with nature and the environment has always been an essential part of my life. I was the young girl in middle school buying World Wildlife Fund T-shirts and a huge stack of books about recycling and how to live a more environmentally conscious life. This passion continued through my teen years and college with making my own natural and organic beauty products like shampoo, face serums and oils, clay face masks, bath soaks, deodorant, and herbal hair soaks. I dreamed of being able to make these kind of products for other people, combining my own joy in making such lovely products with spreading how useful environmentally conscious products for everyday life can be.
My journey in healthcare began at St. Agnes Hospital in 2010. At 16 years old, I obtained my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through my high school and Agnesian Healthcare’s Youth Apprenticeship Program. I had the opportunity to work in numerous areas of Agnesian Healthcare, and I loved working in the Medical Imaging department so much that I’ve worked as a CNA there ever since. During college, I majored in radiologic technology and nursing at Marian University in my undergraduate studies, but I wasn’t feeling truly fulfilled. I knew there was another path I wanted to walk.
A very influential woman in my life, knowing my passion for helping people and living in harmony with nature, suggested I study acupuncture. This was the start of my journey with traditional Chinese medicine. I started studying traditional Chinese medicine at Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in 2015 and graduated in September 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine. Continuing my insatiable passion for learning, I graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in August 2019 with my Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine focuses so deeply on each individual person, the different vital substances within the body and their relationship with the environment around them. Living a harmonious life is the backbone of health, and the techniques of Chinese medicine, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, exercise, and massage, help us achieve this balanced lifestyle of wellness. I am forever grateful for this far path of health and wellness, and I truly love sharing and educating my patients and community in these beautiful therapies.
When I’m not doing acupuncture, reading and studying more Chinese medicine, or making beautifully natural health and home products, I’m usually keeping myself busy. In the summertime, you’ll find me outside on the nature trails across Wisconsin. I’m completely obsessed with honey bees, and I’ve had my own beehives for the past 5 years so I check up on my beehives throughout the summer as well. When I’m cooped up inside in winter, I love a good Kurt Vonnegut book with warm tea and cooking deliciously healthy foods.
